About Innovative Grants

The Davis Education Foundation is pleased to offer competitive Innovative Grants designed to encourage, recognize, and reward creative instructional programs and ideas in education. Full-time licensed teachers, counselors, schools, and departments may apply for grants to support innovative programs or projects that promote higher levels of student learning and academic success.

Grant proposals must enhance student academic performance and support the objectives, goals, and initiatives of the Davis School District.

Application Window

October 1 – 31, 2025

The grant application will be open during this window. Apply early to allow time for administrator review.

Eligibility

Applicants must be licensed teachers, counselors, or administrators employed by the Davis School District who are actively involved in the instruction of students or related support services.

Awarding of Funds

Teachers & Counselors

Up to $5,000

Awarded by late 2025. Funding distributed through a reimbursement process once receipts are received and the evaluation is completed.

Schools & Departments

Up to $10,000

Awarded by late 2025. Funding distributed through a reimbursement process once receipts are received and the evaluation is completed.

The grant focus must align with one of the following areas:

Class Instruction / Enhancement
Behavior Management & Modification
Belonging & Inclusion
Technology
Highly Reliable Schools

Application Requirements

Complete the online application by October 31, 2025. The application will include:

  • An abstract or overview of the project
  • Goals for student achievement and the evaluation tools and strategies
  • The need the application is addressing
  • Community partnerships created through this project
  • A line-item budget for the proposed work

All projects must be reviewed and approved by the school administrator or director. All funds must be expended, receipted, and submitted by April 15, 2026.

Restrictions

The following items are not eligible for funding:

× Salaries, subscriptions, licensing
× Food, t-shirts
× Gift cards

Selection Criteria

All grants are reviewed and awarded by an innovative grant committee. Applications are evaluated on:

  • Proposed goals for student achievement are challenging and rigorous
  • The proposed work engages students in critical thinking and problem-solving
  • Alignment between goals, assessment, activities, and budget
  • Support for district goals, the School Improvement Plan, and quantifiable student learning needs
  • Sound evaluation procedures incorporated into the proposal
  • Creative or innovative approach to achieving objectives
  • Clarity and logic of the proposal

Note: Funds are not typically available for recurring programs or projects. The proposal should address a new project rather than one already accomplished or underway.
